Figma
Figma Design
When creating and managing Figma design files, it's important to follow consistent naming conventions, keep files properly organised, and ensure the right people have the right level of access.
Creating a new Figma file
New Figma files must be named following our conventions and moved into the correct project folder. Without this, files default to your personal drafts and remain invisible to the rest of the team.
Create new design file
- Navigate to + New Design File
Rename file
- Click on the field in the top left corner
- Name the file following our naming conventions
Move Figma file
Move your file into the correct project folder as soon as it's created. This keeps it accessible to the wider team and ready to share externally when needed.
Some clients have their own dedicated team space in Figma, while most other client work lives within Jaywing AU.
To move a file
- Click the dropdown next to the file name
- Select Move... from the dropdown
Select project/folder
- Search for the folder name, or select from the list
- Click Move
Note: Remember to file in the correct job folder with the correct job number.
Amending notifications
By default, once you edit a Figma file you will automatically receive notifications of ALL comments on that document.
We advise that you change this preference to only receive notifications when you are directly tagged or replied to.
To change notifications
- Navigate to the base panel and select the Comment icon
- In the Comments panel (top right), select the three dots icon
- Select Just mentions and replies
Sharing permissions
It's important that only internal access is granted to the Figma core design file.
By default all Jaywing internal team members will have view access. To avoid any bottlenecks later down the line, change this to edit access for the internal team.
To edit permissions
- Navigate to the top right and click + Share
- Click on Anyone in Jaywing
- In the What they can do section, click Edit
Advanced options
- Untick Viewers can copy, share, and export from this file, this controls external parties from duplicating our working files
Creative Dept Figma Projects
We have one team for all of our Jaywing AU clients and one team for each of our OES brands.
Figma should follow the same naming conventions as mentioned previously.
